Print Collateral Design
Problem
Previous Annual Report or Corporate Brochure designs were either very basic or extremely dark in color scheme and sometimes both. Tasked with providing a design solution that shows the optimism within the (then current) corporate environment.
Solution
Lighten the pallette and overall design, providing more of a conceptual feel of optimism using a basic pattern of intersecting lines and a web of simple shapes.
A leader in the IT security infrastructure and control solutions space, BindView was looking for a refreshing, simplified design solution for their Annual Report. As the lead designer and creative director on the project, my task was to provide a document that was different from what had been done in the past, as well as simplify the presentation of essential material to the board of directors and individual shareholders.
The typography design and lead-in pages built upon the corporate tagline that was locked with the logo at the time: Integrity. IT Matters. Personally, I was not a fan of branding lock-ups (and my long-held belief was justified after BindView dropped said tagline six months later and all existing collateral had to be re-branded and re-printed) but I did like the idea of playing with the concept of integrity and the security of corporate IT infrastructure.
The success of the Annual Report led to its design aesthetics migrating into the main outbound marketing product pieces. My design became a launching pad to further the use of grays and a limited, purposeful color usage across a broad range of collateral including brochures, guides, one-sheets, and case studies used by BindView during this period of time.
This printed collateral touched every aspect of corporate business for BindView including sales marketing channels, business segment conferences, and industry trade shows.
